M C & G Bridge Studio 24-Jul-2016
TIP OF THE WEEK: It is summer and
just like the kids out of school, summer is a time to review. When you
take a course and learn new things about bridge some of it does not really gel.
By now you have likely witnessed some of the bids or techniques at the table.
When you review those old notes, it will probably make perfect sense now!
CONGRATULATIONS & KUDOS Thank
you everyone for pitching in while Bill & I are in Washington. We will
have some great surprises for you when we get back! Our District 1 Open
Team (from Montreal) made it to the semi-finals - something we have not done in
a looonnnggg time - Congratulations to the Fergani team.

THIS WEEK'S BRIDGE QUIZ:
S – K J
H – A K Q
D – A K J 3
C – K Q J 5
You open the bidding with 2C – and partner bids 2D (waiting) what is your rebid?
TO LAST WEEK'S QUIZ:
S – A
H – A K Q J 10 7 5
D – K Q 5
C – A 3
You would open 2 clubs with this hand, and partner bids 2D (waiting) what is your rebid?
Answer: Bid 3H – a
jump bid after a 2C opening bid says that you are playing in THAT suit.
In this case you would bid 3 Hearts. It asks partner to start bidding
aces. If partner does not have an Ace, they can bid 3NT to show a King
otherwise with no Ace or King they would redid 4 or your major. Over
partner's 3NR rebid showing a King; if you are interested in finding out which
one; you would bid 4 Clubs and partner will show their first King or bid 4 of
the trump suit to show King of Clubs.
