C & G Bridge Studio 26-Oct-2014
Tip of the
FIRST trick can make or break a contract. . .PAY ATTENTION. If you lead
the Ace from Ace/King and see your partner play the 2 you know partner does
not have the Queen. It could be very wrong to cash your other high honour
and set up a FREE trick for declarer. Look at partners attitude.
For the third hand player . . look at partners high honor lead if
you can complete the sequence play a HIGH encouraging card, if you cannot
help play a LOW discouraging card. At least partner will know your
points are not in their suit!

are playing transfers. LHO passes and your partner bids 2 Diamonds,
and your RHO DOUBLES. What is your call?
partner has simply told you they HOLD a five card heart suit. You
cannot support a 5-card suit, and partner may have NO points. To freely
bid 2 hearts here would promise 3-card support. Pass and await further
you at the tables,
