The Bridge Studio offers the most qualified and successful teachers in HRM.  Kathie Macnab, Balon Buckley and Jill McCormick have decades of teaching experience. The hundreds of students taught at The Bridge studio now enjoy both social and competitive bridge.  We offer lessons from the ACBL teaching series, Popular Topics, and Better Bridge.

BETTER BRIDGE BRIDGE BASICS SERIES:

BRIDGE BASICS 1 "An Introduction"

This 8-week course is a NEW beginner course by Famous Bridge Educator Audrey Grant.  This course is hands on from the very beginning.  A fascinating and fun way to learn the game Bridge.  By week 3 you will be ready to join our "Beginner Practice Play" group.  This course covers all the basics of the game (bidding, play and defense) in just 8 weeks. Bridge Basics 1 Student Text $15.00 

BRIDGE BASICS 2 "COMPETITIVE BIDDING"

The second new course from Audrey Grant is an excellent way to introduce new and experienced players into COMPETITIVE BIDDING.  This course covers the concepts needed when both sides are bidding for the contract.  It is a well organized  format that shows us how to use the various competitive options to your best advantage.  This course will be presented in 8 segments.  Highly recommended for any player who participates in regular and tournament duplicate bridge games. §§ THE BEGINNER BIDDING (formerly  The Club) SERIES:

The first of the Audrey Grant Teaching Series is for the beginning bridge player.  This 8 week course teaches the “Language of Bidding” and is a good foundation for the game.  From the opening bid to the final contract this course focuses on the logic behind the bids made at the table.  The course also shows some basic play techniques for the declarer.  We also offer our students a "Week 9" which is a chance to play and review what they have learned.  Bidding Series Student Text $15.00

 ¨¨¨ THE PLAY OF THE HAND  (formerly The Diamond) SERIES:

Continuing on from the Bidding Series the Play of the Hand Course focuses on what to do as declarer.  It helps the declarer form a clear PLAN to be able to fulfill their contract.  Promoting and establishing tricks along with other techniques.  A short review of the bidding  and a defensive tip is also included in this 8-week course.  The Bridge Studio offers a "Week 9" which is a Review and Play session to reinforce what the participants have learned during the course. Monday 7:00 pm - beginning January 16th

This is the Third in the Audrey Grant Lesson Series and this course focuses on defense.  The true partnership of the game.  Counting, signalling are all defensive strategies that the advanced beginner can use. The Defense covers everything from the opening lead to third hand play.  Eight Weeks with a "Week 9" of  hands on practice and review.  Even if you have been playing bridge for YEARS this course is the ONE sure way to improve your game.  Each week you will walk out of class with an "I never thought of that before" in you head. Defense Student Text $15.00

§§ THE CLUB EXTENSION COURSE

This course was specially designed by Balon Buckley and is the perfect compliment to the ACBL Bidding Series and the Better Bridge Bridge Basics 1 series. It is also an excellent refresher or review course for newer players/students. This 6 week course will review the bidding, introduce the Stayman convention and opening bids with very strong or very weak hands.  Handouts given each week.
