SUMMER LESSON SCHEDULE

Only two classes left for the Monday Morning Group

Monday Mornings at 9:30 Jill McCormick will be presenting up-to-date material followed by 8 hands to play.  Hand outs will be provided for each lesson and subject material is suitable for all levels.  

THESE LESSONS will be 2 hours.  NO Pre-registration required  $7.50 per person

August 30 -- Learning to Count, both Declarer & Defenders  
September 6 -- Part 2 Essential Counting Skills for Declarer & Defenders  
September 13 -- JILL will begin "Improve Your Judgment - Opening the Bidding" 8-weeks  

 

Beginning Monday September 13th at 7:00 Kathie will be conducting the following Intermediate/Advanced Classes

Sept. 13  Slam Bidding at Suit Contracts - Understanding useful doubletons, bidding slams with fewer than 32 points, knowing Key Cards and RKB.  Participants must be familiar with regular Blackwood and cuebidding.
Sept. 20 Slam Bidding in NoTrump Contract - There is a vast difference in bidding on power and distribution. clarifying between Ace asking and Quantitative bids.  Must understand Stayman and Transfers and power hands.
Sept. 27 Passed Hand BiddingMust be familiar with basic bidding and Splinter bids.  How to make use of good fitting hands with fewer than opening points without the use of Drury.  Jump responses, rebids with previously passed hands
Oct. 4 Opening Leads vrs Suit Contracts - Learn how to make good inferences from the bidding to select a good lead.  Participants must have a good understanding of basic bidding and able to keep track of information.
Oct. 11 Planning the Defense - Learning how to deduce what is needed to BEAT the contract.  You know basic bidding and declarer play, leads and signals.  You must have the ability to count and add to 40!
Oct. 18 Opening Leads vrs NoTrump Contracts - a simple 4th best from Longest and Strongest may not always be the answer.  Drawing inferences from the auction may have you selecting something much better.
Oct. 25 Defense Technique again NoTrump Contracts - Focusing on defending a NoTrump contract takes concentration, at least one of the hands is limited, and you have a lead to analyze. Making good deductions.  
Nov. 1 Counting the Hand - Furthering your skills on counting out a hand but using hints from the bidding, opening lead and defensive signals and the most important aid is when someone shows out! Participants are expected to have Basic bidding and defensive skills.
Nov. 8 Placing the Opponent's Honours - how to make you finessing percentages increase.  This class will help you with technique on how to sniff out the opponent’s honour cards so it is not always just a guess.  Adding and subtracting to 13 is required.
Nov. 15 Deception in Declarer Play After looking at various ways to count the hand out as declarer some tips on how to make it not so easy for the opponents to know what you hold. Knowledge of basic declarer play technique is helpful for this class.
Nov. 23 Planning a Strip & End Play  It sounds so racy but the technique frequently used by experienced players is not as hard as it sounds, the key is eliminating other possibilities so the opponents can help you out.  This is one of the most fun declarer play techniques.
Nov. 22 Hand Evaluation  Is it a good hand or not?  Purity points, long suits, rebids, helpful patterns, all of this play a role in evaluating the quality and power of you hand.  Going beyond basic bidding rules to understand when conservative or aggressive bidding is required.
Nov. 29 Long Suit Establishment One of the basic techniques for a good declarer.  Understanding the power of a long suit in dummy and how to utilize it.  Something many players miss but ALL should be able to perform.  This class will be a great insight to ALL bridge players.
Dec. 6 Opener's Rebids!! The most common problem for newer players is the rebid.  This class will help you out with the problem of what to do after you open the bidding and you have heard a response.  Many helpful hints for advanced beginner, intermediate and advancing players.
Dec. 13  Students choice -- "Weak Two - the Advanced version"; "Advanced finessing Technique"; "Jacoby Transfers for advancing players"; "Common Bidding Errors"
Dec. 22  Student's Choice -  "Loser on a Loser" plays;  "The Avoidance Play"; or "Negative Doubles".
