Made 3 — EW +140

Hold the West cards. Is the West hand a limit raise of an overcall or just a maximum simple raise (to 2♠)? It is close. I don't like to count points for both honors and shortness in the same suit. I feel that you can count the ♣Q as either two HCP or a 1 support point for the doubleton but not both. Losing Trick Count would suggest the West hand is only a simple raise as well.
I suspect that South will lead the K and declarer will make 9 tricks. My plan would be to win the diamond lead and then lead the ♣Q. I want to get my ruff in the dummy and then play the ♠A and a spade. If I knew hearts were 3-3 I could just as easily leave the clubs alone and just play hearts.

Made 5 — EW +660

I doubt anyone will even sniff at slam. I also think that very few will make 12 tricks. Would you open the West hand 1NT? I think it is too strong for just a 1NT opening and I prefer the hand be upgraded and opened 1, planning on rebidding 2NT. The reasons are the primo 17 HCP, the five-card suit, the excellent 10s and 9s, and the fact that all of the honors are in aces and kings and not queens and jacks. Consider this question... do you want partner to invite with a 4333 shaped 8 HCP hand? I do! If partner sometimes passes with a balanced 8 HCP, then you must upgrade the West hand. If partner invites with every 8 HCP, then you can get by much better with opening 1NT.
The second interesting aspect of the bidding is the East hand. What would you bid over partner's 1NT opening? You could bid Stayman or you could bypass Stayman and bid 3NT immediately? I usually bypass Stayman with all of 4333 distribution, a maximum hand for my raise to 3NT, and with a poor quality four-card major. With AQ72, I'm tempted to bid Stayman. With the modern style of sometimes opening 1NT with five hearts, it makes Stayman more appealing as well.
Declarers will not get the diamond suit correct. If you MUST have 5 tricks, the odds favor cashing the AK and hoping that the Q falls doubleton. However, this is not the play for the average maximum which is 4.14 tricks. Believe it or not, the presence of the 8 makes the double finesse the best play for maximum tricks. The correct way to play diamonds is to lead the J and run it unless it is covered. If it is covered, then go back to dummy and lead another diamond to finesse against the 10 on the second round.

What a disgusting misfit that turns out to be a miracle slam make. As soon as North opens the bidding, South is going to have grand visions and North is going to try and slow things down at every opportunity, but I suspect North won't be able to stop below a slam.
The interesting point in the beginning of the auction is North's rebid. Would you rebid 2 or 2? There are many in each camp! I believe that finding a fit is about the most important part of the auction. Partner didn't raise hearts so I will try my second suit next unless there is a huge discrepancy in suit quality and my hearts would play for one loser opposite a small singleton heart in partner's hand. I choose to rebid 2 almost always! This is sometimes called an AAB or an ABA situation. (6-4 shape - A=higher suit; hearts in this hand and B=lower ranking suit; diamonds on this hand). There are many that recommend with a weaker opening bid (up to about 14 HCP) you bid AAB and with stronger strength (15+) you bid ABA. That has some merit but I think strength is a little less important than fit which is why I choose to rebid my second suit when I'm 6-4. It is a worthwhile debate.
12 tricks make on this miracle layout when hearts break 3-3 and the ♠K comes down on the third round. What a lucky make! I suspect that many will be in 6♣ going down!

4♠ by East
Made 6 — EW +680

This is the standard auction to reach 4♠ but the East hand is close to being strong enough to bid more than just 4♠. How would you go about bidding more than 4♠ with the East cards? If you're unsure assume you can add the Q and the Q to your hand.
The answer lies in your friend - New Minor Forcing . You can bid 2 over 1NT and then bid 3♠ followed by 4♠ (assuming partner never agrees them). Partner will wonder how come you didn't just bid 4♠ over 1NT as in the auction shown above. The answer is that you have a 4 1/2♠ bid and a way to actually show it!
On the hand above, can declarer get everything right? It will come down to a guess in the heart suit. I don't know that East is going to be good enough to finesse the 6 on the third round of the suit. (Q covered K and A; and then a low heart to the 8 is only good enough to make 5. If declarer leads the 9 on the second trick it will be covered and declarer left with the same guess on the third round. It is a mistake to play the 9 on the second round. South might hold 10x and playing the 9 will cost you a trick. South can see all of the heart spots and would be totally foolish not to cover.

This will be a common auction and I suspect that most of the field will reach the cold slam. East should show a control after West's 4♠ bid. East has a nice diamond suit that could potentially provide a secondary source of tricks so it would be a mistake for East to bid 4♠ over 3♠. West is the one who knows so West should be the one who goes! After 5, should West bid 6♠ or 6NT?
West knows that East has the A and the A, but not the ♣A. West knows nothing about the ♣Q so West should want to protect the ♣K by declaring the hand and having the ♣K led up to. This consideration is a must for the advancing player! Protect your unsupported kings! West should clearly bid 6♠ and not 6NT. East should respect the decision.

6♠ by West
Made 6 — EW +1430

A good hand to highlight the usefulness of Roman Keycard Blackwood (RKB). Before that point, a control showing bid of 4♣ is very useful to East. East knows it is the ♣K because you don't show shortness controls in partner's long suit. You only show high card controls in partner's long suit. East is the one who knows after the valuable 4♣ bid. In RKB, there are five key cards. They are the four aces and the trump queen. In the above auction, 3♠ confirms a fit and sets trump as spades so in this example the ♠K is the fifth key card. The 5♣ response show either 1 or 4 key cards and East knows that it must be 1. East doesn't know if West has the ♠K or the A but East knows that West doesn't have both. East would want to avoid a slam that was on a finesse for the trump queen while also missing an ace. A key principle of RKB is that you avoid slam missing 1 key card AND the trump queen. East must find out if West has the ♠Q before making the final decision. The 5 bid asks about the trump queen. Retreating to 5♠ would deny the queen, while bidding a new suit would promise the ♠Q and show the king of the suit being bid. Note that spades is the agreed upon suit so there can be no doubt as to the final suit. The only question is what level will the contract be set at. East bids the slam which ends the auction.
There is practically nothing to the play. Declarer will draw trump and then lead a diamond towards the K. North should smartly rise with the A to prevent the overtrick. Declarer MUST have the K and why would declarer be attacking a suit where they are missing the AK?
